We are thrilled to share the highlights from this year’s awards, celebrating the exceptional contributions and achievements within our community. The North American Chinese Clinical Chemists Association (NACCCA) proudly presents the 2024 award recipients:
Lifetime Achievement Award
We are honored to present the Lifetime Achievement Award to Dr. Jay Kalra, Professor and Medical Biochemist at Royal University Hospital, Saskatchewan Health Authority, Saskatoon, Canada. Dr. Kalra’s illustrious career and significant contributions to clinical chemistry and lab medicine underscore his unwavering dedication to advancing laboratory medicine.
Distinguished Contribution to Education Award
The Distinguished Contribution to Education Award is awarded to Dr. John Toffaletti, Professor in the Department of Pathology at Duke University Medical Center (DUMC). Dr. Toffaletti’s exceptional commitment to education and mentorship has profoundly influenced countless professionals within our field.
Women in Lab Medicine Award
We are proud to honor Dr. Jing Cao, Associate Professor in the Department of Pathology at UT Southwestern Medical Center, with the Women in Lab Medicine Award. Dr. Cao’s outstanding leadership and achievements continue to inspire and empower future generations in laboratory medicine.
Outstanding Service Award
The Outstanding Service Award is presented to Dr. Xin Yi, Director of Clinical Chemistry at the Department of Pathology and Genomic Medicine, Houston Methodist Hospital. Dr. Yi’s exemplary dedication and service have been crucial in advancing NACCCA's mission and supporting our members.
Clinical Mass Spectrometry Research Grant Winner
Supported generously by Waters™, Dr. Dan Zhang, a Pathology Resident at the Department of Pathology & Lab Medicine, University of Saskatchewan, Canada, has been awarded the 2024 NACCCA Clinical Mass Spectrometry Research Grant for her groundbreaking research.
Innovation Awardee
Generously supported by Calibra Scientific, Dr. Sarina He Yang is recognized with the Innovation Award for her pioneering solutions in laboratory medicine. This award celebrates individuals who introduce novel methodologies and technologies that enhance diagnostic accuracy and patient care.
